Google Lively
Google launched a new service today called Lively, a browser based virtual world add-on that lets users create and customize avatars and worlds and interact with other users in these rich environments.
I am Mac-based, so can't try it out as yet - please let me know if it's any good ;-)

Social Wallpapering

I've always had a broad spectrum of different desktops to swap between and this is a great repository for diverse high quality imagery (I've been downloading loads of stuff). The added dimension here is being able to run refined searches, upload and rate, etc.
